Admin Team

Drew Hill

Head of School | Intro to Dialectic Teacher

​​Mr. Hill is one of the founders of TCS and has served as the Head of School since January 2022. He has a B.A. in Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Masters of Divinity from Denver Seminary.

Drew is the author of “Alongside: Loving Teenagers with the Gospel,” winner of the 2019 ECPA Christian Book Award. He has also written “Alongside Jesus: Devotions for Teenagers” and the mini-book, “When to Get My Kid a Phone” (AlongsideResources.com). Drew is a priest in the Anglican Church of North America and serves in a mission-wide leadership role with Young Life (YoungLifeLeaders.org). Mr. Hill has been in youth ministry for over two decades in Colorado, Georgia, and North Carolina and regularly speaks around the country to parents, youth workers, and teenagers.

He is married to Natalie and they have five children: Honey, Hutch, Macy Heart, Huddle, and Hobs. If you ever beat Drew in a game of foosball, he’ll buy you lunch.

Chris Munn

Principal | Humanities Department Head | History Teacher

Mr. Munn joined TCS in 2022 as Principal. He serves as the Head of the Humanities department and teaches History in our Dialectic School. Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in Education from Indiana University and a master’s degree in Education from Michigan State University.

Mr. Munn has overseen youth development for nearly 20 years in ministry and education. He has worked in public and private schools in America and in China, and has experience working in Christian communities as well. His children were previously enrolled in a classical Christian school for six years. He was the founding Principal of a private school in China which grew from 60 students to 700 students in five years.

He is married to Monica and they have six children: Isaiah, Owen, Evelyn, Annie, Eleanor, and Oliver. His family likes to read books, watch movies, and play soccer.

Rhonda Lin

Director of Enrollment & Advising | Math Teacher

Mrs. Lin joined the TCS staff in 2019. She is our Director of Enrollment & Student Advancement and teaches Dialectic Math.  Having served as an educator for over 20 years, her most recent assignment has been at home where she homeschooled her own children classically for 10 years. 

Mrs. Lin holds a B.A. in Art History from Hollins University and an M.Ed. in Elementary Education from UNCG. Married to David, they have three teenage/young adult children and enjoy watching movies and spending time at the beach. Mrs. Lin is excited to partner with the parents of TCS as they seek to classically educate their children.

Sheresa Lacey

Director of Operations

Mrs. Lacey joined the TCS staff in 2019. She is our Director of Operations. She holds a B.A. in Spanish with minors in Religion and Math from Greensboro College. Sheresa and her husband Jeff, have two children at TCS and are a part of Triad Church in Greensboro.

Mrs. Lacey enjoys spending time with family and friends and a good chai latte. She loves to read a page-turner, to go off-recipe while cooking, to scrapbook family memories, to organize all the things, and ultimately to impact the kingdom for His glory by showing His love to others.

In addition to her role on campus, Mrs. Lacey is also a co-teacher to her two children on our home days.

Office Staff

Katelyn Lust

Office Manager

Mrs. Lust, a native of Greensboro, joined the TCS staff in 2023. She serves as the Office Manager. She has a B.S. in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Adult Oncology and Pediatric Intermediate Care until choosing to stay at home.

Katelyn and her husband, Adam, have four children. She enjoys attending broadway shows, traveling with family and friends, coffee all day, and seeking to bring God glory in all things.

Janelle Higgs

Office Assistant

Mrs. Higgs joined the TCS staff in 2024. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in English Education from Bob Jones University and spent the first year of her educational career serving as a missionary teacher in Spain. She returned to South Carolina to join the high school faculty of her alma mater where she taught for six years in the English and Spanish departments. More recently, she has served as Admissions Coordinator in a private Christian school setting.

Alongside her husband Tim, Janelle served as they church planted in Wilmington, NC. In 2019 they moved to Lexington, NC, where they currently minister with the congregation of Grace Alliance Church. Drawn to the classical model when their oldest child began school in Wilmington, Janelle and Tim relish being part of their family's educational journey as they together seek to embrace God's truth, goodness and beauty.

Janelle takes joy in creating custom event floral designs from her home studio, a small business called Gilded Botanic. In addition, she enjoys reading lots of books, organizing all of the things, taking walks on the property around their home, playing tennis, baking, being a member of her church praise team and leading a gospel-based LEGO camp each summer for her community.

In addition to her role on campus, Mrs. Higgs is also a co-teacher to her four children on our home days.

Grammar School (K-5)

Dawn Campbell

Kindergarten Teacher

Mrs. Campbell joined our TCS staff in 2018 and teaches Kindergarten. She has been an educator for over 10 years including several years as a home educator. She holds a degree in Education and Communication from UNCG.

Mrs. Campbell enjoys encouraging others in their faith, especially those who are in full-time ministry. She and her husband Eric love the outdoors and are enjoying raising their two children in North Carolina.

Sheri Brown

Kindergarten Teacher

Mrs. Brown joined TCS in 2022 and teaches Kindergarten. She has 20 years of teaching experience. She received her BS degree in Early Childhood Education from Winthrop University. She is excited to be a part of the TCS family as both a teacher and a parent.

Mrs. Brown loves spending time with her husband and two sons. They are all active in church where her husband is a minister. As a family they enjoy sports, family games, watching movies and taking walks.

Elizabeth Davis

1st Grade Teacher

Mrs. Davis joined the TCS staff in 2022 and serves as a 1st grade teacher.  She holds a BS degree in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She and her husband, Chad, have three daughters who attend TCS and they are a part of Mercy Hill Church in Greensboro. 

Mrs. Davis enjoys spending time with her family, relaxing on vacations with friends and anytime she can spend on the beach. She is thankful for God’s faithfulness and desires to bring Him glory in all she does.

Krista Tester

1st Grade Teacher

Mrs. Tester joined TCS in 2020 as a 1st grade classroom teacher. She is living out God’s calling on her life to teach and grateful that He has led her to TCS.  After receiving a BA in Counseling and an MAT in Elementary Education, she taught First Grade for five years before stepping aside to stay at home with her children. While Krista loved her time at home, she is absolutely thrilled to be back in the classroom.

Krista is thankful for God’s gifts of salvation, family, friends, and a church where her family is actively involved. In her free time, she enjoys playing the piano, hiking, watching college basketball, and spending time with her husband and 2 children.

Lynne Hodgin

2nd Grade Teacher | Lower Grammar Department Head

Mrs. Hodgin joined the TCS staff in 2017 and teaches 2nd grade. She serves as the Head of Lower Grammar, coordinating instruction for grades K-2. Lynne has over twelve years of teaching experience, both in Ireland and in the US. She is married to Wayne and they have two young children.

Mrs. Hodgin enjoys music, reading and cooking. She is enthusiastic about classical education and the UMSI model. ​

Erin Parsons

2nd Grade Teacher

Mrs. Parsons joined the TCS Staff in 2022. She has her Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies and Speech Communications from Meredith College. Mrs. Parsons has five years of teaching experience in a Classical Christian school.

Erin is married to Michael and they have four children. In her free time she loves reading, attending sporting events with her family, and baking. She is excited to be a part of the TCS community!

Becky Feldmann

3rd Grade Teacher

Mrs. Feldmann joined the TCS family in 2024 as a 3rd grade classroom teacher. She has a B.S. in Music Education from Bob Jones University. God has blessed her with a diverse and joyful teaching career of almost thirty years. She spent twenty years in a traditional classroom setting and ten years as a homeschool mom and Classical Conversations tutor. She is thrilled to be returning to her ‘heart’ by partnering with Christian homeschool families at TCS.

Becky met her husband, Skipp, in harmony class during college where he was studying Piano Performance. So cute, right? Even though their four children are now grown, music remains an important part of their family. Becky loves playing the ukulele and teaching private music lessons.

In addition to music, She enjoys drawing, painting, and writing faith-based novels for children aged eight through twelve. She is a member of Christ Covenant Church in Greensboro. You’ll often find her enjoying a cup of coffee and snuggling on the couch with her enormous and hairy golden retriever, Seeley.

Brooke Selph

3rd Grade Teacher

Mrs. Selph joined the TCS staff in 2020 and teaches 3rd grade. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from UNCG. Mrs. Selph has enjoyed being a classroom teacher for over 5 years. She has taught second, third, and fourth grade.

Mrs. Selph loves the Christian approach to teaching at TCS, where she and her students can grow in both knowledge and faith. She and her husband enjoy working together on remodeling projects and yard work. Mrs. Selph loves cooking, board games, and disc golf in her free time. She is glad to be part of the TCS family!

Tammy Wall

4th Grade Teacher

Mrs. Wall joined TCS as a 4th grade teacher in 2024. She holds a BA from High Point University and an AA from Guilford Technical Community College. Prior to TCS, she taught 4th grade at a classical Christian school in Chatham County. Before teaching formally, she tutored in a Classical Conversations Community and homeschooled her sons. She is grateful to be a part of TCS, partnering with parents as their children grow in knowledge, understanding, and wisdom.    

Tammy and her husband, Brent, have two grown sons and one grandson. In addition to spending time with her family, Tammy enjoys boating, water sports, and is an avid reader.

Tricia Webb

4th Grade | Upper Grammar Department Head

Mrs. Webb joined the TCS staff in 2018 and teaches 4th grade. She serves as the Head of Upper Grammar, coordinating instruction for grades 3-5. She brings over 13 years of teaching experience, ranging from preschool to 4th grade. Mrs. Webb is a North Carolina native and holds a BA in Elementary Education from UNC-Charlotte. She has taught in public and private schools, as well as homeschooling for a year.

She and her husband Tim have two children. Mrs. Webb is excited to partner with the parents of TCS and to build relationships with them while educating their children.

Amy Fletcher

5th Grade Teacher

Mrs. Fletcher joined the TCS staff in 2021 and teaches 5th grade. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Carson-Newman University and a MA in Women’s Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. She has taught in both traditional and classical education settings, and also homeschooled for six years.

She and her husband Jason have two daughters who attend TCS. She enjoys singing on the worship team at her church, shopping for a great deal, and sitting on the beach.

Jordyn Morales

5th Grade Teacher

Mrs. Morales joined TCS Staff in 2024 as a 5th grade classroom teacher. She holds a B.A. in English from UNC Chapel Hill. She has taught English for 4 years in a public education setting and is excited to make the move to classical education.

Jordyn and her husband Chase live in Winston-Salem with their cat Fifi. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, book club, thrifting, and cooking.

Amy Kirkman

Teacher Assistant (K)

Mrs. Kirkman joined the TCS staff in 2017 and serves as a Teacher Assistant. She holds a BA from UNCG and has served in Classical, Christian education for over 15 years. She loves supporting teachers, seeing children discover new truths and especially loves helping them in learning to read.

Mrs. Kirkman enjoys art, being outdoors, cooking, gardening and paddle boarding. She and her husband, Chris, have two adult daughters.

Wendi Smith

Teacher Assistant (K)

Mrs. Smith joined the TCS staff in 2023 as the kindergarten TA. She has her BA in Mathematics: Secondary Education from Bryan College. Wendi taught high school mathematics for nine years before becoming a stay-at-home mom. She and her husband, Brad, have three children who attend TCS. 

Mrs. Smith enjoys spending time with family and friends. She enjoys hiking, vacationing at the beach and camping with her family. Mrs. Smith also loves serving with her church family.

Bethany Bush

Teacher Assistant (1st)

Mrs. Bush joined TCS in 2023 and serves as a Teacher Assistant. Bethany has three years of home-schooling experience and has a heart to see kids learn in the UMSI environment. She loves bringing her 13 years of event planning experience into the classroom to help students and teachers stay organized and on task for a successful day!

She enjoys music, baking, quilting, biking, traveling, and being on the water anywhere! She and her husband of 13 years, Nathan, are natives of North Carolina (with a short stop in Virginia) and enjoy spending time outdoors with their two boys.

Meredith Weber

Teacher Assistant (2nd)

Mrs. Weber joined the TCS staff in 2023 and serves as a Teacher Assistant. Meredith grew up in Clemmons, NC, and holds a BA from UNCG in English & Communication Studies and an MS from Nyack College in Organizational Leadership. She attends and serves at Mercy Hill Church.

Mrs. Weber enjoys traveling, reading, volunteering, playing games, painting, eating her husband's cooking, and spending time with others. She and her husband, Mike, have three children who attend TCS.

Gigi Goldstein

Teacher Assistant (3rd)

Ms. Goldstein joined TCS in 2024 as a teacher assistant. She graduated from James Madison University with a BS in Geographic Science and Climate Affairs. She is currently studying at North Carolina State University to receive her Masters in Science Education.


Gigi loves to spend her free time in the great outdoors, reading, traveling the world, tending to her many plant babies, and most importantly playing pickleball.

Kirstin Gordon

Teacher Assistant (4th-5th)

Mrs. Gordon joined the TCS staff in 2024 and serves as a Teacher Assistant. She has her BS in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University. Kirstin taught sixth grade science for 11 years before becoming a stay-at-home mom.

She and her husband, Ross, have three children. They are members of Community Bible Church. Mrs. Gordon enjoys spending time with family and friends. She enjoys spending time in the mountains, outdoor activities, football, and reading a good book!

Brenna Payne

Teacher Assistant (Dialectic/Rhetoric)

Mrs. Payne was a full time volunteer as a TCS parent before joining the school in 2019 to serve as a Teacher Assistant. She holds a BS degree in Psychology from Georgia Southwestern State University. Brenna and her husband have three children.

Mrs. Payne loves quiet evenings at home with her family and good coffee. She is a minimalist who loves simplifying and organizing spaces in her home. She also likes working in her yard, creating areas she and her family can enjoy.

Humanities

Laura Cameron

Literature & Composition Teacher

Mrs. Cameron joined the TCS staff in 2022 as a Dialectic Humanities teacher. She holds undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education and Communication Studies from UNCG, as well as a Masters in Reading Education (K-12) from the same university. She has over 15 years of teaching experience in a variety of settings, including 6th grade Language Arts and with students majoring Middle Grades Education. 

Mrs. Cameron enjoys exploring the outdoors with her four children, reading a wide variety of books, drinking a good cup of coffee, and growing food in her garden.

Sam Cox

History Teacher

Mr. Cox holds the BS degree (Major in Health & Exercise Science, Minor in Biology) from Wake Forest University, the BA (History) from Oregon State University, the MS (Exercise Physiology) from the University of South Carolina, and the MA (Modern European & Colonial American History) from The College of William & Mary. He was an active duty Army officer and is retired from the US Army Reserves.

Mr. Cox has served as an educator for over three and a half decades as a history teacher, humanities department chair, cross country and track coach, Dean of Students, Upper School Head, and since 2001 as Head of School at three different Christian classical schools in VA and NC. He has consulted with over a dozen other classical Christian schools as well and was a founding board member for The Society for Classical Learning, serving two terms on their Board of Directors. He has taught various history and humanities courses at the middle school, upper school, and university levels, and has enjoyed many years serving on non-profit and school boards.

Sam resides in Greensboro, NC with his wonderful wife Erin and they have three children--Anna (and husband, Tucker), Avery, and Charlie. You might even find him at a local bookstore, signing copies of his recent book, I Will Give Them an Everlasting Name: Jacksonville’s Stories of the Holocaust (Amsterdam Publishing, 2024).

MaryLou Dovan

Rhetoric I & II Teacher

Mrs. Dovan joined TCS in 2023 and teaches formal logic. Mrs. Dovan has her B.A. in English from Grove City College and her masters in Classical Christian Studies from New Saint Andrews College. She is greatly indebted to her parents and professors for an education that opened her eyes to the wonders of God’s world and hopes to multiply that blessing as she spends time in the classroom.

She and her husband are raising two daughters and two sons with the help of grandparents and friends who are like family. Mrs. Dovan loves to read books, write letters, walk in wide open spaces, and spend time around the table with loved ones.

Jason Fletcher

History Teacher

Mr. Fletcher joined the TCS staff in 2023 and teaches Ancient History in our Dialectic School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Literature from Taylor University and a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. 

Jason is married to our 5th grade teacher, Amy Fletcher, and together they have two daughters who attend TCS. A native of Greensboro, in his spare time he leads two local furniture stores, American Furniture Warehouse and Southeastern Furniture, serves as an elder at his church, Restoration at the Rock, where you might catch him playing the cajon on the worship team.

Jensen Kirkendall

Literature & Composition Teacher

Mr. Kirkendall joined TCS in 2023 as a Dialectic Humanities teacher. He is a Northern California native who moved to Winston-Salem in 2020. Jensen holds a BA in English Literature and Humanities from Azusa Pacific University in the LA area and an MA in English from Wake Forest University.  Through Azusa Pacific’s Honors College he grew to love the Classical method and studying Great Works across the Humanities. He also has a diversity of work experiences, from construction to van driving to writing coaching. He is passionate about facilitating experiences of things he knows to be good, especially the study of life’s great questions through stories and words.

When Jensen isn’t reading (since that’s the default), he loves backpacking, gardening, walking, and anything outdoors. He also loves cooking, hospitality, and warm lighting. He is eager to draw students more deeply into an understanding of the beauty God continues to work in and through His creation.

Laura Liebmann

History Teacher

Mrs. Liebmann joined TCS in 2022 to teach Dialectic and Rhetoric History. She graduated from Hillsdale College in 2005 with a BA in History and loves reading and teaching about all eras of history & all areas of the globe.

Laura was born in Greensboro, but has been globetrotting since, living in China, Germany, and several US states. She has worked with students in public schools, private schools, and virtual classrooms.  Laura met her husband David in their high school Spanish class, and they have been happily married for 16 years. They have two boys who are students at TCS, and their family loves being a part of what God is doing in the TCS community.

Erin Pellarin

Literature & Composition Teacher

Mrs. Pellarin joined the TCS staff in 2020 as a Dialectic Humanities teacher. She holds a BA in English from UNC-Chapel Hill and earned a Masters and is ABD in early modern literature from Vanderbilt University. She has taught for 10 years on both the high school and college levels. Most recently she has spent five years at a classical high school where she fell in love with the classical educational philosophy of growing young people’s appreciation and recognition of “the good, the true, and the beautiful.”

Erin enjoys reading (wth coffee), cooking, hiking and traveling with her husband and children, and spending time outdoors in her garden. She is excited to work in the middle school setting with both students and parents, and had a dream-come-true in getting to teach with her former high school teacher, Kaylene Swenson (then Ms Brummett).

Lizzie Solheim

Literature and Composition Teacher

Mrs. Solheim was a TCS parent and co-teacher before joining the TCS staff in 2024 as a Dialectic Humanities teacher alongside Mrs. Cameron. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from UNC-Chapel Hill as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching from Liberty University.

Lizzie married her husband Josh in 2012, and they have three daughters and a son.
Mrs. Solheim enjoys teaching her children at home and actively participating in the life of her church and large extended family. She is refreshed by power naps, prayer walks, riding her peloton bike, heartfelt conversations with friends, and dates with Josh.

She loves the TCS community and is excited to get to know and serve more TCS students and their families!

Kaylene Swenson

Literature & Composition Teacher

Mrs. Swenson joined the TCS staff in 2020 as a Dialectic Humanities teacher. She holds BAs in English and in secondary education from Harding University and an MA in southern and African American  literature from Louisiana State University. She spent several years doing post-graduate work training teachers. She has taught for over 25 years on both the high school and college levels. Most recently, in addition to teaching writing online, Kaylene has homeschooled her three children who attend TCS. 

Kaylene enjoys reading, listening to music, hiking with her sons, and learning about all the reptiles her sons bring home.  She is excited about the opportunity to work closely with parents at TCS and to be able to teach with her former student, Erin Pellarin, from Page High School.

Chris Tara

Logic Teacher | Rhetoric Life Skills Teacher

Mr. Tara joined TCS in 2023 and teaches Logic and Life Skills to our Dialectic & Rhetoric students. Chris has a B.A. in History and Political Science from Yale, where he was President of the Debate Team. He also has a J.D. from the University of Virginia. 

He has been married to Mary Beth for 44 years, and they have two children and three grandchildren. His hobbies include live sound mixing, sports, and acting as director of ‘Camp Grandpa’ when needed. He is both excited and humbled to be teaching at TCS.

Mathematics

Adam Greer

Math Teacher

​​Mr. Greer teaches math on our Dialectic and Rhetoric team. He joined the TCS staff as our Head of School in the summer of 2018 and served in that role until stepping back into the classroom fully. Having also served as the Dialectic and Rhetoric Principal at a Classical and Christian school for over 17 years, Mr. Greer is very excited to be part of God’s work at The Covenant School.  

Prior to his work at a similar classical school, Mr. Greer taught mathematics at the college level for seven years. He holds an undergraduate degree from James Madison in Information Systems and master’s degrees in Mathematics and Theology. He and his wife, Betsy, have lived in Greensboro since 1992 except for two years when they served as missionaries in Uganda. Their passions include classical education, baseball, ice-cream, and raising their five children.

Eric Miller

Eric Miller joined the TCS staff in 2022 as a Rhetoric math teacher.  He taught secondary math and bible in two Christian schools in Southwest Virginia for 25 years.  He then "retired" and spent the 2021/22 year building his math tutoring business and teaching Rhetoric math classes at a hybrid homeschool in Roanoke, VA where he and his wife Jeanette were part of a church planting team sent out from Mercy Hill Church. 

Having now relocated back to the Triad, Eric is an avid runner and serves on the worship team at Mercy Hill.  Eric and Jeanette have 4 grown children and 5 grandchildren.

Monica Munn

Math Teacher | Math and Science Department Head

Mrs. Munn joined the TCS staff in 2022 and teaches Dialectic Mathematics. Monica serves as the Head of the Math and Science department. She has been teaching in public and private schools in the U.S. and abroad for 10 years. In addition, Mrs. Munn has been working in the field of adoption since 2011 and has a heart for bringing children into their forever families. Mrs. Munn is married to Chris, and they have six children, four of which attend TCS. 

Mrs. Munn holds a B.S. in Secondary Mathematical Education from Indiana University. She enjoys spending time with her husband and children, exercising, laughing with friends, drinking a hot vanilla latte and is passionate about adoption. Mrs. Munn feels blessed to be a part of the TCS community and is grateful for the opportunity to partner with families as they seek to raise their children in the Lord and classically educate them.

Erica Noble

Math Teacher

Dr. Noble joined our TCS staff in 2024 and teaches Dialectic and Rhetoric Mathematics. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Abilene Christian University, a M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston, and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University. She has over 25 years of teaching experience in both public and homeschool settings. She homeschooled her four children from preschool through high school.

Originally from Texas, she and her family moved to North Carolina 18 years ago. Erica loves going on walks with her husband, Jason, and spending time with her family. She has three grown children, two of whom are married, and one son still at home.

Dr. Noble serves as the Teaching Director of the Greensboro Community Bible Study Day Class. She delights in singing and sings weekly on her church praise team.She also loves studying the word of God and teaching others. This passion, combined with her love for writing, led her to write a family read-aloud The Butterfly: Celebrating the New Life in Christ, a short metaphoric story about our redemption and transformation in Jesus.

Mark Atamian

Science Teacher

Mr. Atamian joined the TCS staff in 2024 and teaches Dialectic and Rhetoric Science. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Washington State University and his single-subject teaching credentials in Life Science, Physical Science, General Science and Agronomy from California Polytechnic University. Mr. Atamian has a wide variety of job skills and experiences, including 27 years as a public high school teacher in Pasadena California.

Mark is excited to be teaching science from a biblical perspective in a community where Jesus is Lord. He is passionate about helping mentor young people to fully experience their true identities as sons and daughters of the King, and to achieve excellence in education, so as to fulfill all that God has destined for their lives.

Mark and his wife, Florence, have lived in Greensboro since 2021. They homeschooled their daughter, Hannah, K-12. After obtaining her degree in biology from UNC Chapel Hill, she hopes to study Medicine. In addition to spending time with his family, Mark loves reading (especially God’s Word), gardening, hiking, camping and cooking.

Joshua Marsh

Science & First Lego® League Teacher

Dr. Marsh joined TCS in 2023 as a Dialectic and Rhetoric Science instructor. He possesses an extensive academic background, including a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Appalachian State University, a Master of Science in Chemistry from Old Dominion University, a Master of Arts in Education from Western Kentucky University, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Sciences from the University of Kentucky.

Hailing from Boone, North Carolina, Joshua has lived in various states, including Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Now, he is delighted to call Greensboro his home. Throughout his teaching career, Dr. Marsh has taught Chemistry at institutions such as East Tennessee State University, Ballard High School, Lees McRae College, Caldwell Community College, Appalachian State University, and High Point University. His academic contributions extend to several published works in chemistry, biology, robotics, and educational sciences. Currently, he is engrossed in exploring artificial intelligence and novel technological advancements in science.

In his leisure, Joshua is an avid reader and musician. He cherishes spending quality time with his wife, Christy, and their wonderful children: Micah, Canaan, Evangeline, Rex, Wesley, Georgia, and Hosanna. Dr. Marsh is passionate about education and is dedicated to nurturing metacognitive, deep-conceptual learners. He is fueled by a vision to help students appreciate the incredible works of God, and he fervently believes that understanding and learning about God's creation deepens our connection to the world around us.

Lucy Walsh

Math and Science Teacher

Mrs. Walsh joined the TCS staff in 2023 and teaches Math and Science in our Dialectic and Rhetoric School. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern State University and worked as a Registered Nurse in the areas of adult intensive care and advanced heart failure/cardiac transplant. Mrs. Walsh left nursing to homeschool her 3 girls classically for 8 years.  

Lucy and her husband, Jack, have lived in Greensboro since 2015. In her free time, she loves reading, working out, attending sports events, traveling, and spending time with their 3 children. Mrs. Walsh is passionate about Classical Christian Education and is excited to partner with the parents of TCS.

Specials and Electives

Marla Barham

Music & Guitar Teacher

Mrs. Barham joined TCS in 2023 and teaches various music classes. Marla graduated from Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana majoring in Music Education and minoring in business and youth ministry. Her teaching experience includes band, choir and general music from preschool to high school. She also teaches Kindermusik classes in Greensboro from babies up to preschool as well as private music lessons. 

Marla is actively involved in her church's music ministry, youth ministry, and Bible studies. She is a volunteer with American Heritage Girls, a Christian scouting group. When she isn't teaching music lessons or serving at church, Marla enjoys working on her farm and spending time with her grown children.

Robin Conine

Music Teacher

Mrs. Conine joined the TCS staff as our music teacher in 2019, and is excited to teach students about God’s gift of music. She received her BM in Music Education and Composition from Houghton College, and obtained her MM in Music Composition from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Mrs. Conine has taught music theory and technology at the college level, and is a tireless teacher of beginning piano students. In addition to her work as an educator, she has an active career as a composer, and frequently writes sacred music, which you can find at robinmclaughlincomposer.com. In her free time, Mrs. Conine enjoys baking, reading, and spending time with her husband Grant.

Berta Maria Gaertner

Spanish Teacher

Mrs. Gaertner joined TCS as a Spanish teacher in 2024. She holds a bachelor's degree architecture from Universidad Mariano Galvez in Guatemala, and also a certificate in interior design from the same university.

Berta Maria is originally from Guatemala, where she gained valuable experience working with children, youth and at-risk families, through national and international Christian mission organizations. Part of her roles with those organizations was developing educational, nutritional and life skills curricula for those children and youth. Berta also used her architectural skills to help those missions organizations with various construction projects.

Berta Maria and her husband, Jason, have two children. Before teaching at TCS, Berta worked with a Triad NC area Christian non-profit organization, translating for resettled immigrants and refugees. Berta and her family enjoy going to the public library, watching movies and eating ice cream.

Liliana Gaffney

Spanish Teacher

Señora Gaffney joined the TCS in 2021. She earned a Bachelor of Education in Spanish and English in 2003. Liliana was teaching ESL for three years after her graduation in Bogota, Colombia. Then,  she came to the United States of America in 2007 and she has taught foreign languages for 9 years in Greensboro, NC.

Mrs. Gaffney is married to Kevin and they have two children in elementary school. She enjoys outside activities and spending time with her family. She looks forward to traveling to different places and visiting her immediate family in her hometown.

Anna Hargett

Art Teacher

Mrs. Hargett teaches art at TCS. She holds a BA in Elementary Education from UNC Chapel Hill and will happily cheer for the Tarheels if you remind her the game is on (yay sports!). Anna brings her years of elementary teaching experience, coupled with her passion for visual arts and professional involvement in the local art community to the art program at TCS.

Mrs. Hargett feels most alive when she is creating and connecting with others. She has a mild obsession with audiobooks, the country of Italy, and tacos. As an artist, she loves all of the colors, but green is the best one. She and her husband John have 3 great kids and consider Greensboro home.

Calley Hull

Spanish Teacher

Ms. Hull joined TCS in 2023 as a Spanish teacher. Calley graduated from Guilford College in 2023 with a B.A. in English & Media Studies and Spanish, and she is a member of the Greensboro Fellows class of 2024. She is fascinated by the beauty of all of the languages that God has created, and hopes to foster a love of language in her students that will allow them to connect with others.

In her free time, Ms. Hull enjoys reading, writing, spending time with friends and family, and engaging in the arts, especially musical theatre. She is thrilled to be a part of the TCS family!

Pamela Kinter

Drama Teacher

Mrs. Kinter joined TCS staff in 2020 as our Drama teacher. She is a performer and director, but above all, an educator. Her professional career began at the University of Maryland, with degrees in Acting Technique and Directing.

Mrs. Kinter was asked to direct a children’s theatre production in Chicago over twenty years ago when…lightning struck! She realized that the natural ability of children to create, explore, and simply TRY was something to be encouraged and celebrated! Pam founded Stagelights in Greensboro, NC in 2010 to help children in the Triad explore the joys of theatre.

Kellie McLeod

Rhetoric Life Skills Teacher

Ms. McLeod joined TCS as a volunteer in the office and substitute teacher in 2023. She recently retired after serving 40 years as an academic and career advisor at Greensboro College and High Point University. Ms. McLeod is a huge believer in classical, Christian education and has been a fan of TCS since it’s inception. She has a passion for helping students of all ages understand their identity in Christ and embrace their unique, God-given strengths.

A native of North Carolina, Ms. McLeod enjoys the NC mountains. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from Meredith College and her M.Ed. in Counseling and Student Development from UNCG. She has two married daughters and four grandchildren and immensely enjoys her role as Grandmommy.

Kellie enjoys staying fit with weight training, taking long walks or hikes, and she enjoys the challenge and joy of baking, especially tweaking and perfecting my famous chocolate chip cookies! Ms. McLeod counts it a privilege to be a part of what our gracious God is doing at TCS.

Michelle Peters

Fitness Teacher | Athletic Director | Safety & Security

Mrs. Peters joined the TCS staff in 2021. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Peters is our Athletic Director and oversees Safety & Security. She is looking forward to teaching students fitness and to appreciate that they are “fearfully and wonderfully made by God”(Ps.139). She graduated from the University of Vermont with a BS in Physical Education. She also has fond memories of playing on the UVM softball team. She has taught for over 15 years including high school, ESL, and home-schooling her own children. She is RRCA certified, NFHS certified, and has coached cross country teams since 2018. During the summer she enjoys officiating track & field events with USATF.

Mrs. Peters and her husband Dan, have two children at TCS and are members at Lawndale Baptist Church in Greensboro. Together they enjoy participating in obstacle course races and Tae Kwon Do.

Jenny Purath

Spanish Teacher | Spanish Department Head

​​Mrs. Purath joined the TCS staff in 2016 and serves as our Head of Spanish Department and Spanish teacher.  She has been teaching for almost twenty years in both public and private school. Mrs. Purath has taught Spanish, French, and English as a Second Language to ages ranging from preschool through high school. She also has home-schooled her children. Jenny is married to Kipp, a pastor in Greensboro and they have three children at TCS.

Jenny earned a BA in French from Wofford College and a Bible Certificate degree from the seminary at Columbia International University. She also spent several years as a missionary in West Africa. With foreign languages, Jenny uses a methodology that incorporates motion, song, drama, and spontaneous conversation. She also encourages students to look for ways God might use their knowledge of another language to reach out to others.

Allison Reyes

Spanish Teacher

Mrs. Reyes, a native of Greensboro, joined TCS in 2023 as a Rhetoric Spanish teacher. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish and International Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a minor in Music. Allison learned Spanish during her year-long mission to El Salvador in 2012, and continued immersing herself in the language when she returned to the U.S. She previously worked as a paralegal at an immigration law firm for five years.

Allison and her husband have three daughters together. She enjoys singing in the worship band at her church, playing the violin, exploring the outdoors, traveling, and drinking coffee.

Mary Beth Tara

Rhetoric Life Skills Teacher

Mrs. Tara joined the TCS staff in 2024 and teaches the Home and Hospitality elective. She received a BS in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, and practiced law for twelve years in Arizona and California before retiring to devote full-time attention to her family and community service. In 2015 Mary Beth felt a strong call to pursue theological education, and in 2020 she received MA degrees in Systematic Theology and Church History from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. She has led several Bible studies, taught an introductory course in Church History for the Greensboro Fellows, and taught a bioethics class at Church of the Redeemer following the Supreme Court’s decision in the Dobbs case.

Mary Beth is married to Chris Tara, who teaches the Dialectic/Rhetoric Logic courses and will join her to teach the Home and Hospitality class. They have two adult children, three grandchildren, and one amazing dog. Mary Beth enjoys reading Scripture, theology, church history and spiritual biographies, cooking and baking, gardening, and cheering for her favorite sports teams.

Richard Westover

Rhetoric Life Skills Teacher

Mr. Westover joined TCS in 2022 and teaches our Life Skills elective on Personal Finance. He began his career as a financial professional in 2014, and after a year of working in a support role and learning the operations side of the business, he became a licensed representative in 2015. His passion for personal finance was sparked after he became involved with leading Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace University” class at his church here in Greensboro. Richard's desire is to teach and serve people in the area of investment planning with the highest level of integrity.

Richard graduated from Appalachian State University, where he met his wife, Rachel. Together they have two children, Ashlynn and Brody.  He is actively involved in several ministries at Westover Church and enjoys cheering on the Tar Heels and Mountaineers to many victories!

Rhea Williamson

Sewing Teacher

Mrs. Williamson joined the TCS staff in 2024 to teach sewing to our Dialectic students. She holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of the Virgin Islands.

Rhea and her husband Joel, have two children and are members of Evangel Fellowship Church.

Mrs. Williamson enjoys sewing, encouraging moms, and homeschooling her children. She is a self-published author of two books, an entrepreneur, and a social media influencer. In everything Mrs. Williamson does, her hope is to encourage others to grow closer to Christ.

Lucie Anderson

Academic Support

Mrs. Anderson has been an integral part of The Covenant School since the very beginning. She has over twenty years experience as a teacher (K, 1st and 3rd) and as a grammar school principal. She holds a BA in Early Childhood Education from UNCG and a certificate in Administration from ACSI. 

Raised on the Carolina coast, she and her husband have lived in Greensboro for over thirty years and have three grown children. Lucie is passionate about classical education and is excited to be part of bringing the University-Model to the Triad.

Jane Perez

Academic Support

Mrs. Perez graduated from Winthrop University with a BA in Developmental Psychology.  She worked for 7 years as a Teacher Assistant at a classical school then taught for 3 years. Jane’s children were classically educated K-12 and she served on the board of Caldwell Academy for 10 years.

Mrs. Perez enjoys walking, hiking, reading, the beach and organizing things :) She is married to John, and has four married sons and six grandchildren (so far!).
